Capernaum - the town of Jesus

Capernaum, on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee, is often called “the town of Jesus.” This is where He lived, taught, and performed many of His miracles. When you walk among these ancient stones, you are standing in a place where the Gospel came alive in everyday life.

Here Jesus healed the paralytic lowered through the roof (Mark 2), restored Peter’s mother-in-law (Mark 1), and taught with authority in the synagogue. Capernaum was not a palace or a grand city; it was a humble fishing village. Yet from here, God’s power touched ordinary people in extraordinary ways.

The remains of the synagogue remind us that Jesus taught within the Jewish world of His time, speaking Scripture and fulfilling prophecy. Nearby, the house traditionally identified as Peter’s home shows how faith began in simple homes and spread to the ends of the earth.

Capernaum invites every believer to reflect: God often chooses ordinary places and ordinary people to reveal His glory. Standing here, we are reminded that the message of Christ is not distant history—it is a living call to faith, healing, and transformation.
